I will work with you to learn how to cope with life’s challenges and ultimately make positive and meaningful change. We are equal partners in this journey to find wellness and build a better ‘you’!
As a clinician I take a holistic approach, making sure to take into consideration all aspects of your life. I believe in taking a strengths-based perspective to give you the courage and motivation to implement the changes you wish to make in your life. I am here to help empower you to create the life you want to live.
When searching for a therapist, it’s important to feel an authentic connection with them. I will strive to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to make the change you are looking for.
As you embark on this therapeutic journey it is my goal to make you feel empowered, heard, understood, and to provide a safe and positive environment. We will learn and grow together as we discuss your difficulties and highlight your strengths. I believe developing a strong and positive therapeutic relationship is a huge part of making your therapeutic journey successful. I’m focused on meeting you where you are at and help you realize the strength within yourself because I firmly believe that you are the expert of your own life.
Overall, I encourage growth, self-awareness, understanding and self-care; using strategies of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness and relationship enhancement, all the while helping you learn and practice self-love and acceptance, constructive anger, and taking responsibility for your self-care, valuing yourself, and making yourself a priority.
I use techniques from Brief Strategic Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I am very task oriented in my approach to therapy. I look forward to working with you and helping you create a plan to achieve your goals.
I strive to create an environment in which we identify where change is needed while highlighting the strengths you already possess. I value building trust, fostering connection, and embracing vulnerability with my clients. I firmly believe in providing an authentic, accepting, and affirming space to achieve the outcomes most important to you. I enjoy supporting clients with skills including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused, and Mindfulness based approaches.
As a licensed counselor, I can help provide that objective insight and support along the way. I believe in down-to- earth strategies that can be used in practical ways. My approach is on solution-focused techniques, with an emphasis on assisting clients with finding the balance in their lives between taking care of themselves while maintaining healthy personal relationships with others. I believe in clients setting their own goals in a safe and judgement-free environment.
I work from a humanistic approach where I aim to understand my clients from their own intersecting identities and upbringing. I utilize a range of techniques, namely cognitive-behavior therapy, and psychodynamic therapy techniques so that I can blend the past with the present and begin to reframe toward the future. I work with all my clients to help improve self-esteem and begin their own journey of self-healing, growth, and acceptance.
My approach to counseling is humanistic and client- centered. I believe that building trust and a professional working relationship is crucial in creating positive change. In our sessions I will use an integrative and strengths-based approach to our work together. A combination of mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and other techniques will be used to help you achieve your counseling goals.
As a therapist, I provide person-centered and strength-based approaches. I work to encourage and support my clients so they never feel alone. I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches to educate clients on how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can influence one another and the effects that these domains can have on our mental health.
I take an eclectic and person-centered approach to therapy. I often utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), feminist, and multicultural therapy modalities. Additionally, I utilize Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), one of the most effective methods for treating PTSD. Simply put, we will work together to identify barriers in your life and the best ways we can address them.
I practice a strengths-based method to help build motivation for change while emphasizing what is already going well as I find it more successful and encouraging for clients. I find that humor can help in learning to find perspective and joy, even during challenging circumstances.
My clinical interests include resiliency training, motivational interviewing, stress management, substance abuse, depression, PTSD, relationship issues, and working with fellow service members. Some of the modalities I utilize include motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, person-centered therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I look forward to hearing from you and working with you!
