All counseling approaches require us to build an honest, trusting, and respectful relationship with one another. My approach to counseling is humanistic and client- centered. I believe that building trust and a professional working relationship is crucial in creating positive change. In our sessions I will use an integrative and strengths-based approach to our work together. A combination of mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and other techniques will be used to help you achieve your counseling goals. My role will be to empower and help assist you in expanding your awareness of yourself, while providing a safe and non judgmental space. Successful counseling requires clients to take an active role in the treatment process by participating in treatment goal setting. We will work together in order to reach those goals and create positive change for your life.
My background includes a career in education working with children, teenagers and parents in a variety of settings. I have experience working with the foster care and adoptive population, and with those experiencing trauma and attachment issues. Are you a parent overwhelmed in taking care of others? Do you have a special needs child, or those who are experiencing a mental health crisis? My clinical interests include working with parents who are parenting children who may have special needs, mental health or behavioral struggles, eating disorders, foster or adoptive children, and those first time or recently postpartum parents looking for support. I look forward to partnering with you on your journey!
