Welcome to therapy. Getting started is often the hardest step and I’m pleased to share my perspective and experience. I use a holistic, integrated approach with mind-body connection that includes compassion and mindfulness. Being genuine is the best way for me to be helpful to you along the journey. Uncertainty is normal in the beginning, but self-confidence is built up the further you continue.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Limited License Psychologist, and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I have practiced individual and group therapy for over 10 years in a variety of nonprofit settings including community mental health, outpatient mental health and inpatient addiction detox services. I have led many groups and worked with clients individually on treatment areas involving recovery from anxiety, depression, trauma and addiction disorders as well as issues with anger management and managing emotional impact of chronic pain.
I utilize evidence-based techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Person-Centered, and Solution-Focused therapies.
I practice a strengths-based method to help build motivation for change while emphasizing what is already going well as I find it more successful and encouraging for clients. I find that humor can help in learning to find perspective and joy, even during challenging circumstances. This work is deeply meaningful to me, and I find value in the stories and perspective gained from it.
Thank you for your willingness to pursue self-improvement and for your trust in me as well as the process. I look forward to working with you.
