Have you found that life is hard, filled with tough choices, and loneliness? For so many of us, this has become our everyday reality- as the isolation of working from home and the separation from both family and friends is starting to take its toll on our well-being. In all walks of life feelings of anger, depression, anxiety, conflict, grief, loneliness and various combinations of all of the above can bubble over, causing untold hurt. This pain may leave us feeling withdrawn, abandoned, and unsupported; isolated from both our inner selves, and those around us. This is where I can help! As a mental health professional, I can offer a level of support that your loved ones cannot provide, offering insight and guidance when other measures have fallen short.
As a Licensed Master’s Level Social Worker, I graduated from Western Michigan University in 2011. During the past 6 years, I have worked with those who have faced crisis and trauma, supporting them in their worst moments, as well as celebrating their many accomplishments- such as overcoming ongoing issues with anxiety and sleep problems; traumatic experiences, and panic attacks. Not only do I feel as though I have a professional obligation assisting clients in overcoming their fears, and adverse experiences; I also feel as though I have a personal obligation to my clients, and the work that we do together in order to ensure that each and every individual is celebrated for their strengths.
Within my work, I strive to combine a compassionate, accepting, humanistic approach with my experience, education, and creativity, in order to cultivate a counseling experience that is down-to-earth, and realistic. First and foremost I believe in working in partnership with you, utilizing your strengths to help you sort out your challenges and achieve your goals using your biological, psychological, social and spiritual needs to identify what you hope for and outline the unique needs you wish to pursue. My counseling approach ranges from cognitive-behavioral, solutions focused, trauma focused cognitive behavior and client centered therapy. However, I often adjust my technique to personalize and to assist you in healing from trauma, building self-worth, and improving communication in your relationships, as well as focusing on building and improving your current situation, in addition to working with you to achieve your future goals.
Overall, I encourage growth, self-awareness, understanding and self-care; using strategies of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness and relationship enhancement, all the while helping you learn and practice self-love and acceptance, constructive anger, and taking responsibility for your self-care, valuing yourself, and making yourself a priority.
